NaBloPoMo

I am a Procrastinator! I am not ashamed to admit this. Procrastinating is one of my finest talents, and certainly shines whenever it comes to getting something written. It has taken many years to reach my level of Expert Procrastinator. When Sister Theresa Edward told me, while I was still a Junior in high school, that I was a procrastinator, she was only being generous in using the term.

At the time, I was simply a Puter-Offer. Assigned a 10 page term paper, I would quickly go to the library and spend 3 days researching sources, collecting quotes, preparing a bibliography, and making lists. I'd purchase my clear plastic report cover and push my artistic abilities to the limit designing an eye catching cover.

Three weeks later, with a paper due at 10:00 AM the following morning I would begin the paper. (A couple of times I managed to get Dad (a newspaper reporter) to supplement my meager typing skills and finish the last two or three pages from my handwritten draft while I got dressed for school .( He didn't fall for my excuses past that year. He made me take a typing course at the public school's summer class!) Then, I passed the paper in and pulled off a decent grade.

That was two score and three years ago. Since becoming a published writer, my procrastination level has reached an all time high.

Case in point ~~~ MY BLOG.

You may have noticed that I haven't posted anything since March. It's not that I haven't had anything to write about. All sorts of wonderful things have happened since my last post. Also a few not so wonderful things, but they get tedious so I won't tell you about the broken windshield, the loss of the entire roof of the motor home ,or the failed wheel bearing.

Another nun, my good friend, Sr. Lucy Marie, told me, after receiving a long overdue letter, she could always tell when my life was going well and that I was having fun. I never got around to writing. Only when I was bored or lonely would I write my 10 page letters to her. Okay , so I had a great summer!

Now, I'm sitting here in Coffeyville, KS. Big Jim is working at Amazon, and I'm allegedly writing a mystery. Since beginning to work diligently on the manuscript I've been quite good. Good at checking my email, good at checking my forums, even good at becoming the moderator of a brand new forum (I haven't a clue as to what I'm doing!).

But today marks a new beginning. I have decided that it's time to leave procrastination to others. Today I am going to learn the word discipline. No more being a champion Puter-Offer. I have signed up for NaBloPOMo!

Today I am accepting a challenge to post on my blog everyday for a month. Then, I'll work on my book.

See ya down the road,

Yarntangler

Hang in there. Blogs can be short or long; serious or funny. This month is Thanksgiving. I think I am going to start blogging about things that I am thankful for. I look forward to reading more of your blog!
